Looking for a welcoming church in Porter, TX? Visit Porter First Baptist Church for uplifting worship and community fellowship. VISIT US AT Porter First WELCOME TO PORTER FIRST Our Mission: To encounter God through meaningful worship. To grow in Christ through ministry and missions, and to educate toward Christian maturity. To go serve while encouraging one another through Christian love. As you plan your visit, below are some things to know. What is the worship service like? Our services last about an hour and fifteen minutes. Our music style is a blend of current contemporary praise & worship and the great hymns of faith. We have a praise team backed by our worship choir. We use a variety of instruments, including horns, percussion, keyboards, acoustic and electric guitars. We teach biblical truths using drama, videos, personal stories, and preaching. What do I wear? Our members and guests typically dress casual. You will find anything from coat and tie to flip flops and T-shirt. Dress modest but to your comfort. Can I become a church member? Our church membership is made up of professing Christians dedicated to biblical truths. You become a member of the church by a Transfer of Membership, Profession of Faith and Baptism, or by a Statement of Faith after attending a one session new members class and meeting briefly with a staff member. Can I serve as a volunteer at church? Yes, there are hundreds of service opportunities within the church and out in the community. We believe every person has gifts and talents that are to be used to serve others. Are you associated with any particular denomination? Yes, we are part of the Southern Baptist Convention (sbc.net ), an organization with more than 16 million members from over 42,000 churches dedicated to sharing the good news of God's love with people around the world in cooperation of like faith. We also cooperate with the Southern Baptists of Texas (sbtexas.com ) convention. What activities do you have for children? We offer a comprehensive ministry to children from birth through 5th grade that includes age specific classes on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings. There are also various special events throughout the summer. Ultimately everything we do for children is centered on the concept of Faith@Home. What activities do you have for students? Our Student Ministry includes 6th through 12th graders. Our students meet in classes on Sunday morning and have a mid-week worship service and Bible study on Wednesday evenings. Do you have a singles ministry? Yes, we have Sunday classes for college-age through older singles. How do I become a Christian? Do you know for certain where you will spend eternity? The Bible records Jesus as saying, "God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16 NIV) . . . but what does that mean? God's Plan is that we spend eternity with Him. We receive eternal life as a free gift from a loving God. "The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 6:23) What are Your Beliefs? The Bible We believe the Bible is the Word of God. Every word in the original writings is inspired by God and is without error. It is accurate in all matters to which it speaks - spiritual, historical, and scientific. It is the supreme and final authority for faith and life. God We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, each of whom possesses equally all the attributes of Deity and the characteristics of personality. Jesus Christ We believe that Jesus Christ is God's Son. He was miraculously born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died to atone for the sins of human beings, was buried, bodily arose from the grave, ascended into heaven and will personally return to establish His kingdom on the earth. The Holy Spirit We believe that the Holy Spirit, the third Person of the Godhead, convicts people of sin, regenerates, baptizes, indwells, seals, and empowers believers for holy living. Human Beings We believe that human beings are the special creations of God, made in His image. They fell through the sin of the first man, Adam, and are all born with a sinful nature. All human beings are sinners, separated from God, in need of salvation. The Church We believe the church is a local body of baptized believers with the Lord Jesus Christ as the Head. It exists to worship and serve God, encourage believers in their spiritual growth and share the good news of God’s forgiveness with all people. Salvation We believe salvation is the gift of God. It is received by expressing repentance toward God and faith in Jesus Christ. Every person who truly is saved is eternally secure in Jesus Christ and will spend eternity in heaven, while those who die in their sins will spend eternity in hell. Baptism We believe baptism is an act of obedience for the believer. It is by immersion after salvation and is done in obedience to Jesus Christ's command. Baptism identifies the believer with the local church. For a more in-depth look at our doctrinal position, read the 2000 Baptist Faith and Message of the Southern Baptist Convention.

- Give to Porter First Baptist Church - Support Our Ministry
Support the mission and ministry of Porter First Baptist Church. Give online to help further our outreach and community programs. Porter First Giving Giving Our God is a God of Radical Generosity. When the Apostle Paul wanted to encourage an urban church in a culture to be people of radical generosity, he pointed them to this truth about God seen most clearly in the giving of His Son. Radical generosity is generosity that flows from an encounter with this radically generous God we meet in the gospel of Jesus Christ. When the gospel takes root in our lives, it becomes the story that shapes, informs, and defines the decisions and direction of our lives. So, just like Christ, we gladly become poor, giving sacrificially of our lives to enrich the lives of others. Just as our Savior poured himself out to rescue and enrich our lives, so we should pour out our lives to rescue and enrich the lives of others – not just friends and family, but even those who are removed from us. ways to give Text Text FBCPORTER to 73256 The reply link will prompt you initially to set up your giving method. We use a variety of instruments including piano, keyboard, bass guitar, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, and drums. We also welcome wind and stringed instruments to become part of our ensemble! How often does the music ministry rehearse? Most of our groups rehearse once a week. Check our weekly schedule to find rehearsal times for the group you are interested in. I am not musical, how can I participate in the Worship Ministry? Our worship services each week require many people working behind the scenes running all of our technology. We need sound board operators, lyric computer operators, light board operators, camera people, and live stream directors. We also need music librarians and helpers in preschool and children's choirs.
